PADI RESCUE DIVER COURSE PRE-REQUISITES

To start the Rescue Diver course you need to be at least 12 years old. You need to be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or an Adventure Diver with the underwater navigation adventure dive. You must also have valid CPR and First Aid Training within the past 24 months. Bring your certification card as proof, if you do not have this, you will need to take the Emergency First Response Course which will teach you primary and secondary care in preparation for your Rescue Diver course.

All PADI courses and programs require you to answer a medical questionnaire. Please take a look at the PADI Medical Participant Questionnaire to find out if you should be examined by your Doctor before participating in Recreational Scuba Diving.

WHAT’S INVOLVED

You’ll practice problem solving and the most effective strategies for problem management. You will learn where useful equipment is located on the boat including various flotation devices, emergency oxygen, and medical supplies. You’ll learn how to manage and be a team player during full rescue scenarios including doing search patterns to locate a missing diver and surfacing an unconscious diver. PADI RESCUE DIVER COURSE SCHEDULE

Rescue diver Course | Scuba Shack Koh Tao

2 - 3 days

The Rescue Diver course takes 2-3 days depending how many students are in the class.

The mornings are spent at the shop watching the Rescue Diver video, completing knowledge reviews, discussing the course material with your Instructor, and completing a final written exam.

Each day will have a lunch break from 11:00-12:00.

The afternoons will be spent on the boat practicing skills and scenarios.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE COURSE DETAILS:

The EFR Course can be completed in one day. You’ll begin by reading your EFR Course book and watching an informative video. Then you’ll practice with your instructor the steps to take to manage an accident. These include scene assessment, alerting EMS, checking for breathing, circulation, serious bleeding, spinal injuries and shock, and administering secondary care. When the practical skills have been mastered you’ll complete a final written exam.

The Rescue Diver course is 10,000 Baht.   It is 14000 Baht including the Emergency First Response course or just 4000 Baht for Emergency First Response course. We can also help you with Accommodation.

FAQ

The cost of the PADI Rescue Diver course is 10000 Baht per person. This includes the Rescue Diver e-manual, all equipment, insurance and the certification fee. There are no additional costs. At Scuba Shack we also offer a 10% discount to returning students.
The minimum age to start the PADI Rescue Diver course is 12 years old. Students between the ages of 12 – 14 will earn the Junior Rescue Diver certification. You need to be certified as a PADI (Junior) Adventure Diver and have completed the underwater navigation adventure dive.
You will usually log 2 or 3 dives during your Rescue Diver training but there is no minimum requirement for the amount of dives. You have to successfully complete 10 rescue exercises and 2 rescue scenarios.
The PADI Rescue Diver course should take a minimum of 2 days but can sometimes take 3 days depending how many students in the class.
All PADI Scuba diving courses and programs require a minimum level of health and fitness. You are required to complete a medical questionnaire before any in-water training. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course. If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).
To start the PADI Rescue Diver course you need to have completed EFR Primary & Secondary Care training within the last 24 months. Some CPR & First Aid certificates from other training organizations can be accepted. Contact Us and we can check if your certification is acceptable.
